Brian
Charles Lara of the West Indies is now the
Highest Run Getter in Tests as he went past
Allan Border's 11174 runs on the 2nd day of the
3rd Test Match at Adelaide. Lara batting on 213
shuffled across and played a cheeky paddle sweep
off Glenn McGrath to get the most famous single
that took him into the record books as the
Highest Run Getter in Test Cricket. The 36 year
old has achieved this feat in his 121st
Test and 213 innings compared to Allan Border
who had scored his runs in 156 Tests and 265
innings. Lara had made his Test Match debut in
1990 at Lahore against Pakistan. He also holds
the record of scoring the highest individual
Test Score - a record which he had achieved
against England in the fourth Test at Antigua
when he had scored an unbeaten 400 in 2004. The
Trinidadian is also the World Record Holder for
the Highest Individual Score in First Class
Cricket when he made 501 for Warwickshire
against Durham in 1994.
