Sarwan back at
the helm for Windies |
West Indies have announced their Twenty20 Squad
which sees the return of their Skipper Ramnaresh
Sarwan. The Guyanese had a tragic injury during
the England tour which led to his absence in
International Cricket for quite some time. Chris
Gayle and was the ODI Captain during Sarwan’s
absence.
Left arm swing bowler Pedro Collins gets a
recall in the West Indies side along with
Narsingh Deonarine, a middle order batsman from
Guyana. At the age of 31, Pedro Collins gets a
look in once again for West Indies who are
desperately trying to get variety in their
bowling attack. Pedro who is from Barbados has
106 Test wickets and 39 ODI wickets at modest
averages. Windies have picked him despite the
fact that he is limited to bowling just the four
overs in a match and also the fact that his
batting and fielding are not that great. However
in the absence of both Corey Collymore and
Jerome Taylor, Collins will be more than handy
to lead the West Indian bowling attack.
The other player making a comeback apart from
Pedro Collins is 23-year-old Narsingh Deonarine.
The 24-year-old Guyanese left hander had played
4 Tests and 4 ODIs having made his International
Debut a couple of years back. Windies are placed
in Group A of the Twenty20 World Championship.
Infact they open the tournament by playing
against hosts South Africa on the 11th of
September.
