Badani to lead Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy

Chennai, Nov 1:

Tamil Nadu will go into the coming season with south-paw Hemang Badani, who has been in and out of the Indian squad, as the new captain for the Ranji Trophy Cricket Championship.

The State selection committee, which announced a 15-member squad for Tamil Nadu's first match against Hyderabad in Elite Group-B to be played here from November seven, replaced incumbent S Suresh as skipper. However, he has been retained in the team.

Suresh, earlier took over the mantle from all rounder Robin Singh in a surprise move by the then state selection committee, two seasons ago. However, it was touch and go for Tamil Nadu who failed to win the Ranji Trophy in 2002 losing to Mumbai from a strong position, while in the last season they were beaten in the semi-finals.

Tamil Nadu Squad: Hemang K Badani (Capt), S Ramesh, S Vidyuth, S Sriram, S Badrinath, S Sharath, Vikram Kumar, R Ramkumar, S Suresh, M R Srinivas, R Raghuram, K Shri Vasudevadas, C Hemant Kumar, C Ganapathy, R Jesuraj.
