Murali almost
certain to miss the Twenty20 event |
Any
form of the game and Murali is always a big
headache for any batsman in the world. What is
heartbreaking for Sri Lankan fans is that their
star spinner might miss the inaugural Twenty20
World Championship that will start from the 11th
of this month. Murali who has been playing for
Lancashire in English County has strained the
bicep above his right elbow during a match
against Kent last week.
Sri Lanka Cricket released a
statement that Muralitharan has been ruled out
of the competition and had also named an
uncapped Dilruwan Perera as the replacement.
Dilruwan is a 25-year-old off spinner who is a
handy batsman who has struck centuries at the
domestic level.
Muralitharan problem doesn't end
with the Twenty20 Cup, he might even have to
miss the home ODI Series against England which
starts in October. The spinner might just not be
required to undergo an elbow surgery but a rest
for four to six weeks should be alright
according to media reports.
