New Zealand have drawn the 2-Twenty20 Intl
Series with a comfortable victory of 5 wickets
at Auckland. James Franklin had set up the
victory by pushing Sri Lanka on the backfoot
after they were put into bat first by Fleming.
The Kiwis required to chase just 116 which they
did so losing five wickets and with 9 deliveries
to spare.
Nathan Astle got into some form striking an
unbeaten 40 from 37 balls with 4 fours and a six
to take NZ home. New Zealand were off to a
splendid start from McCullum and Fleming which
knocked off almost half of the target in just
six overs. McCullum was the second highest
scorer with a run-a-ball 28 while Fleming made
17. Dilhara Fernando bowled well to take 3 for
19 in his 4 overs quota.
Earlier Sri Lanka who were put into bat first
were into deep trouble losing half their side in
the first half of their innings. They were
bowled out in 18.2 overs having put up just 115.
They could get to atleast that total thanks to
Lasith Malinga's 27 and Dilhara Fernando's 21.
James Franklin who got the Man of the Match
award had done the damage at the top taking 3
for 23 in 4 overs.
