Samaraweera plays a solid knock after Vaas and
Zoysa's destruction |
April 26, 2006
Sri Lankans played much better cricket on Day 2
of their 3-day match against British
Universities on Tuesday. To begin with, they
bowled out the homeside cheaply for just 125
just under 50 overs with Chaminda Vaas and Nuwan
Zoysa picking up four wickets each. Wainwright
and Clinton were the only batsmen from the Brit
Universities to stay for a considerable amount
of time at the crease. In reply, Sri Lanka got
off to a disastrous start in their 2nd innings
losing 3 wickets for just 6 on the board and
then 4 for 38 with Tillakaratne Dilshan falling
after starting to look good. After that it was
all Thilan Samaraweera and Chamara Kapugedera
who batted beautifully and saw the day through
for the visitors. Samaraweera is 18 short of a
well made century and he has picked up 9
boundaries so far. Kapugedera is batting on a
well paced 40 which has come up with the help of
5 hits to the fence.
