SL pick a new
look side for Abu Dhabi |

Sri
Lanka have dropped Senior batsman and former
Captain Marvan Atapattu for the upcoming One Day
Series at Abu Dhabi. The World Cup runners will
be playing three matches against Pakistan
starting on the 18th of this month. A 15-man
squad has been selected devoid of a few star
players.
The players who will be
missing the action will be wicket keeper batsman
Kumar Sangakkara,
veteran bowlers
Chaminda Vaas and
Muttiah Muralitharan.
All these three key players have been allowed to
fulfill their respective county commitments.
Sangakkara's place has been filled by Prasanna
Jayawardene. The Selectors has also dropped all
rounder Nuwan
Kulasekara and had to replace
Russel Arnold,
who had announced his retirement from
International Cricket after the World Cup Final.
Chamara Kapugedera, left arm quick Ruchira
Perera and leggie Kaushal Lokuarachchi make
their comeback at the international level.
The Selection Committee
led by Asantha de Mel has included two new faces
in left handed batsman Malintha Warnapura and
Ishara Amerasinghe, a fast bowler. According to
the Selectors, its not the end of Atapattu's
career, they dropped him to test younger players
and that Marvan Atapattu will be considered for
future series.
