  • Shikhar DhawanShikhar Dhawan is a left handed opening batsman from Delhi. Dhawan came into limelight following his sterling show in the U19 World Cup in Bangladesh. Dhawan was born on 5th December, 1985 in Delhi.
  • Shikhar Dhawan was the Leading Run-Scorer in the U-19 World Cup in 2004 with 505 runs to his name at an Average of 84.16 with a strike rate of 93.51 in 7 matches with a highest score of 155 against Scotland.
  • With three 100’s and a fifty in that tournament, he was named the Player of the Tournament. His three hundreds were against Scotland, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

In the semi final against Pakistan at the Banghabandhu Stadium, Dhaka, Dhawan could score only 8 and India could set an easy target of 170. Pakistan won the match comfortably to end India's chances of entering the finals.

  • Shikhar Dhawan made his first class debut in Delhi's Ranji Trophy encounter against Andhra at the Roshanara Club Ground in Delhi on 16th November 2004. Dhawan scored 49 in the 1 innings played by Delhi in that match.

  • Shikhar Dhawan got to play against the touring Pakistan team, when he was picked for the India A team that played a warm up one dayer. This match was played at the Visaka International Cricket Stadium, Uppal in Hyderabad. Dhawan managed to score only 8 runs.
  • Granted the Border-Gavaskar scholarship along with Y Venugopal Rao of Andhra & Suresh Raina of Uttar Pradesh and was sent to the Australian Cricket Academy for coaching.

  • Was introduced to cricket coach Tarak Sinha by his uncles when he was around 10 years old.

  • Other achievements: At the age of 10, he hit a century in an U-12 final and hit 199 for Delhi in an U-16 match against Hyderabad at Kolkata.
