Scotland-Pakistan
Only ODI ruined by rain |
July 01, 2007
Pakistan's only ODI against hosts Scotland at
Edinburgh has been ruined by heavy rain. This
was the only warm up match for the Pakistanis
before they meet arch rivals India day after
tomorrow at Glasgow. While India has got tuned
up playing a match against Ireland and then
involved in a three ODI Series against South
Africa in Ireland, Pakistan are yet to taste the
cold conditions.
There was no chance of an inspection as rain
just never gave away in the afternoon at
Edinburgh. There was hope for some play early
on, a possible 20-overs-per-side with only a wet
outfield delaying the start. This match between
Scotland and Pakistan might be having a full ODI
status but unfortunately there was no television
company covering the event live. Pakistan for
these Scotland games have recalled senior
cricketers Younis Khan and Shoaib Akhtar in
their unit. Pakistan have started this new
season with a 15-day military camp in Abbottabad.
Pakistan after finishing the two ODIs in
Scotland will be facing South Africa in a test
series at home.
