Zondeki & Prince drafted into the South African Squad

March 13th, 2005, Centurion:

Batsman Ashwell Prince and fast bowler Monde Zondeki were both named in South Africa's squad for a four-Test tour of the West Indies following their performances in the national team's innings win against Zimbabwe on Sunday.

Prince made an unbeaten 139 and Zondeki had match figures of nine for 105 as South Africa swept to a win by an innings and 62 runs. Both players were in a 15-man squad which will depart on March 24 for a training camp in Antigua. The first Test starts in Georgetown, Guyana, on March 31.

All 11 members of the team which played in the second Test were picked, including swing bowler Charl Langeveldt, who could not bowl in the second innings because of a back injury. Regular opening bowlers Shaun Pollock and Makhaya Ntini were included. Pollock missed the second Test because of an ankle injury while Ntini was rested. Langeveldt, Pollock, Andre Nel and Jacques Kallis will all receive treatment ahead of the tour and will need to prove their fitness. Batsman Boeta Dippenaar and all-rounder Andrew Hall were also named in the squad.
