Bacher
makes a comeback into the South African Squad |

Batsman Adam Bacher has been recalled to the
South Africa one-day-international squad for the
first time in eight years for the opening four
matches of the Standard Bank series against
England.
Bacher, who played his last ODI against
Australia in Sydney in January 1998, has been
rewarded for his outstanding consistency over
the past few years. Having finished last season
as the Standard Bank Cup Player of the Year,
Bacher has continued that form this campaign,
scoring 502 runs in 10 matches for the Highveld
Lions, at an average of 62.75 and a strike rate
of 80.96.
Andrew Hall, Ashwell Prince, Justin Kemp and
Andre Nel have returned to the 15-man squad as
well while Test newcomer AB de Villiers has also
been included. Martin van Jaarsveld, Lance
Klusener, JP Duminy, Alan Dawson and Robin
Peterson are the men to miss out.
South Africa meet England in seven one-day
internationals, the first of which takes place
at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on Sunday,
January 30.
