Kallis excluded
from South African Squad! |
South
African Selectors have excluded three senior
players from their Twenty20 Squad. The most
significant exclusion was that of their no.1
player - Jacques
Kallis! The reason for Kallis' exclusion
according to the Selectors is because of the
fear of draining him out before important Test
Series. The other two players missing out are
all rounder Andrew
Hall and fast bowler
Andre Nel.
The South African squad of 15
has been boosted by the inclusion of two power
hitters in Johannes van der wath and Albie
Morkel. The South African squad looks a strong
one even without Kallis as most of its players
with the exception of a couple of bowlers are
hard hitters of the ball and good fielders.
Gulam Bodi of Titans is the only uncapped player
to make it to the squad. Bodi is a top order
left handed batsman who can bowl useful left arm
chinaman. Out of the World Cup playing squad in
West Indies, only eight of them have made it to
the Twenty20 Championship which is hosted by
South Africa.
Hosts South Africa are in Group
A along with West Indies and Bangladesh. It is
their match against West Indies at Johannesburg
on September 11th that is going to kickstart the
inaugural Twenty20 World Championship.
