Sami doubtful for
the 2nd Test |
22nd Oct, FAISALABAD:
Pakistan paceman Mohammad Sami is in doubt for
next week’s second Test against Sri Lanka after
injuring a groin muscle, a team official said.
Sami did not take the field Saturday on the
fourth day of the first Test at Iqbal Stadium,
after he was injured while fielding Friday.
Harood Rasheed, Pakistan team manager, said Sami
would bat if required in the second innings.
“Sami has badly strained his inner groin muscle
and he needs at least seven to eight days to
fully recover,” said Rasheed on Saturday. The
second Test begins in Karachi from October 28
November 1.
“Any decision on calling up a replacement for
Sami would be taken after the first Test
finishes Sunday,” Rasheed said. The right arm
fast bowler took four wickets for 71 runs in Sri
Lanka’s first innings.
