Proteas have been forced to draw their three day
game against Sri Lanka A at the Colts Ground in
Colombo. South Africans after bowling out the
homeside for 162, scored 245 for 8 before
declaring and setting up an impossible target of
549 to win off 35 overs for the Lankans. Sri
Lanka A just lost one wicket forcing a draw.
Resuming the third and final day’s play at 43
for 1, South Africa lost wickets at regular
intervals and Upul Chandana triggered a mini
middle order collapse by taking three quick
wickets. However Abraham de Villers who had come
at no.3 in this innings along with Jacques
Rudolph scored half centuries to give
respectability to the South African 2nd innings.
AB de Villiers scored 75 and Rudolph followed
his first innings big hundred with a 58. Sri
Lanka A Side batted out for 20 overs in the last
session before the match was called off as a
draw. They lost the wicket of their skipper
Avishka Guanwardene to Nicky Boje.
