Africa have managed to pull off an emphatic
160-run victory in the first Test at Karachi on
the final day's play. Dale Steyn picked up a
five-wicket haul to help the visitors bowl out
Pakistan in just 84.5 overs in their second
innings. Younis Khan's threatening innings was
also put to an end by Steyn.
Pakistan resumed the final's day play at 146 for
3 with Younis Khan on 93. South Africa got rid
of the two overnight batsmen - Mohammad Asif and
Younis Khan before the lunch break. Younis Khan
was cleaned up by a reversing delivery from
Steyn which ended Pakistan's hopes of pulling
off a surprise win. Younis got himself 126 in
160 with 18 fours and a six.
The Pakistani innings fell apart after the lunch
break with the remaining five wickets falling at
the addition of 33 runs in about 15 overs.
Skipper Shoaib Malik was the last man to be
dismissed after having played 99 deliveries
getting 33 runs. Malik's wicket was the only
wicket that Makhaya Ntini could get in this Test
Match. Pakistan were bundled out for 263 in 84.5
overs. Dale Steyn took his 3rd five-wicket haul.
The Man of the Match was awarded to Jacques
Kallis for his two hundreds.
