Villiers hit hundreds in warm-up match |
Mark Boucher and AB de
Villiers struck strokeful hundreds in
yesterday's warm-up One Dayer between the South
Africans and the Pakistan Cricket Board XI team.
The visiting side crushed the PCB XI team by a
massive 176 runs at the Bagh-e-Jinnah Ground in
Lahore.
Boucher made perfect use
of his new role as an opener by stroking his way
to a score of 103 in 106 balls with the help of
14 fours and a six. AB de Villiers, the opening
batsman turned into a middle order bat remained
unbeaten with 113 from 95 with 9 fours and a
six. It was Shaun Pollock enjoying himself
towards the end with a 11-ball 33 that was
powered with 4 sixes. SA finished at 328 for 4
in the allotted 45 overs after being asked to
bat first.
The PCB XI skippered by
opener Taufeeq Umar was skittled out for a
paltry 152. South African bowlers took just 31.3
overs to wrap up the innings. Langeveldt and
Albie Morkel were the most successful bowlers
with three wickets each after the initial damage
was done by Ntini, who took a couple of wickets.
South Africa did not play Graeme Smith in
yesterday's match but the news is that he has
recovered from a stomach bug and would be fit to
play the first ODI. The first match of the
five-match series is to be played tomorrow under
lights at the Gaddafi Stadium.
