Sachin out of
Ahmedabad Test with injury; Kaif drafted in |
Sachin
Tendulkar will be missing the second Test at
Ahmedabad due to a groin injury. Tendulkar has
been carrying this injury since the Australian
tour. The Selectors have named international
discard and Uttar Pradesh Captain Mohammad Kaif
as the replacement.
There were questions asked when Sachin
Tendulkar didn't bowl a single ball in the drawn
first Test at Chennai. Tendulkar was also in an
out on the field. Fortunately, he got good
amount of rest as Virender Sehwag and Rahul
Dravid kept him in the comfort of the dressing
room for more than a day's play. It's not just
about Sachin Tendulkar but also the Indian
Captain Anil Kumble, who has been suffering from
a similar kind of injury. Kumble didn't bowl too
many overs during the final day's play just
because of it.
Tendulkar's replacement - Mohammad Kaif had
last figured in the Indian team in 2006. Kaif
has since been getting plenty of runs in first
class cricket. However, he might be sitting out
of the Ahmedabad Test with Yuvraj Singh likely
to walk into the XI. India may be tempted to
play Ishant Sharma, who might recover in time
for the second Test.
