Zaheer Khan opts
out of SA Series |
Zaheer
Khan, the most experienced fast bowler in
India among the current crop has ruled himself
out of the 3-Test Series against South Africa.
The left armer had returned home mid-way during
the Australian Tour before the 2nd Test due to
an ankle injury.
The 29-year-old is recovering from the same
ankle injury to his left leg which is supposed
to take another 4-6 weeks to rest according to
the pace bowler. Zaheer Khan has been the leader
of the Indian pace attack after Javagal
Srinath’s retirement and so far he has picked up
170 Test wickets and 201 ODI wickets.
Fortunately for India, Zaheer’s services haven’t
been missed because of a strong bench strength
in the pace department which includes the latest
sensation – Ishant Sharma. India won the Perth
Test and also the CB Series through its young
inexperienced pacers. Zaheer is contracted with
the Bangalore Royal Challengers in the IPL and
was bought for $450,000.
