Uttar Pradesh who have been in supreme form
throughout the tournament took on Vidarbha today
at the Daly College Ground in Indore.
Having won the toss and
electing to bat, the UP openers got their team
to a good start putting 76 runs on the board for
the 1st wicket. Some important contributions
from the middle order came in the form of a
crucial 51 of 44 balls by Jyoti Yadav and 23 of
19 balls by Suresh Raina, which meant that Uttar
Pradesh posted a total of 240. Salil Khare took
3 wickets for Vidarbha giving away 52 runs.
Vidarbha in reply were
bolstered by Alind Naidu's fine 114 which came
in 151 balls with 12 hits to the fence. But
except for Amit Deshpande's 34, no other team
mate supported Naidu, as Vidarbha were shot out
10 runs short of the victory in the final over.
Rudra Pratap Singh continued his bright form by
taking 3 wickets for 34 runs. Uttar Pradesh with
this victory claimed the no.1 position in the
Central Zone League.
