won the toss and elected to bat, their innings
was well controlled by young left hander Suresh
Raina. Raina slammed an unbeaten 89 coming of
just 80 balls with 5 4s and 2 6s. Mohammad Kaif
did have an important stand with the youngster
but fell away at a personal score of 32,
nevertheless Uttar Pradesh managed to put up
255. Railways’ pacer Sumit Mathur was impressive
with 3/33 in his 8 overs.
Rajasthan in
reply fell down to the left arm spinner Praveen
Gupta and Madan Yadav as both the bowlers took 3
wickets each. Middle Order batsman Rohit Jhalani
scored a half century but all Rajasthan could
manage was just 194 which meant that they earned
a negative point.
