Abbas Ali, the skipper of the Madhya Pradesh
team won the toss and put Uttar Pradesh to bat
first. Uttar Pradesh batsmen struggled to come
in terms with the wicket and it was upto their
skipper Mohammad Kaif to play a rescuing knock.
Kaif scored a cautious 53 from 91 balls with 8
fours. Wicket Keeper Amir Khan and Kumar hit
crucial 40s to help U.P to 218/9. The tail also
did their part in adding up to the Uttar
Pradesh’s total. New ball bowler Sanjay Pandey
did the damage for M.P with a neat spell of
10-2-38-4.
Madhya Pradesh’s hopes were dashed by excellent
bowling by left armer Rudra Pratap Singh
(7.1-3-27-3) and P Kumar, who took 3 wickets.
M.P were skittled out for 185 with only their
captain Abbas Ali with his 81 balls – 53 giving
some sort of a fight. Uttar Pradesh picked up 4
points as M.P made sure that they didn’t shed
away the bonus point.
