Ranji One Day 2004-05 : South Zone: Tamil Nadu
Vs Karnataka |
Jan 10th, 2005:
This looks out to be an interesting match with
some good players in both the line ups.
Karnataka’s skipper Sujith Somasunder won the
toss and asked T.N to bat first.
Somasunder’s decision looked to be a wrong one
as Tamil Nadu batsmen made a feast of the
Karnataka’s bowling. Top of the order, all
rounder Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan dazzled with 56,
the experienced Sharath came up with an unbeaten
59. But the real fillip to the innings was that
of India’s Test Wicket Keeper Dinesh Karthik who
batted in disdain fashion knocking off 72 from
just 51 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes as Tamil
Nadu posted a difficult target of 279. Former
Indian left arm spinner, Sunil Joshi took the
stick giving away 72 runs in his 10 overs,
although he did manage to take Dinesh Karthik’s
wicket towards the end.
Karnataka’s batting crumbled under pressure of
chasing a good total and the innings gave away
at 196 in 45.5 overs. Rajamani Jesuraj kept his
wicket taking form going as he took 3 wickets
and Vidyut Sivaramkrishnan with his slow left
armers took 3 wickets. Tamil Nadu with this big
win took 5 points and Karnataka were awarded a
minus point.
Tamil Nadu
278/4 (Sivaramkrishnan Vidyut 56 Sharath
59* Dinesh Karthik 72*) defeated
Karnataka 196 (B Akhil 33, Rajamani
Jesuraj 3/18 Sivaramkrishnan Vidyut 3/51)
by 82 runs
