Mumbai, the leaders of the West Zone League so
far took on Maharashtra today at the Sardar
Vallabhai Patel Stadium at Ahmedabad.
Mumbai after winning the
toss were off to a slow start with opener
Vinayak Mane scoring 29 in 61 balls. Wasim
Jaffer coming in at no.3 top scored with 52 of
66 balls. Wicket-Keeper Vinayak Samant towards
the end scored a quick 42 of 33 along with
Wilkin Mota who scored a quick 31 of 21 as
Mumbai reached a total of 248/7 at the end of 50
Overs. Patil took 3 wickets giving away 57 runs
for Maharashtra.
Maharashtra in reply were
given a good start by captain Dheeraj Jadhav who
scored 51 of 93 balls with 5 fours. Abhijit Kale
was back into form with an unbeaten 66 of 83
balls, but had nobody to support him as
Maharashtra were all out in the 47th over for
197. Captain Nilesh Kulkarni was the star for
Mumbai with a 5 wicket haul. Mumbai with this 51
run victory earned 5 points and are now 3 points
ahead of Baroda.
