Ranji One Day 2004-05 : South Zone: Hyderabad Vs
Goa |
Match Report by Ashwat
Ramani
Jan 13th, 2005:
Hyderabad who have been rusty throughout
the tournament so far, took on the homeside
today at the Panjim Gymkhana Grounds.
After winning the toss
and electing to bat, Hyderabad were in a bit of
trouble after losing 3 wickets for just 33 runs
on the board. A strokeful 73 of the bat of
Ambatti Rayudu along with some useful 20's and
30's from his team mates helped Hyderabad reach
254 at the end of 50 overs. The Goa bowlers
shared the wickets with Amit Dani, Anil Naik and
Dhiraj Narvekar taking 2 wickets each.
Chasing 255 for a
victory, the Goa batsmen were put on the
backfoot right from the start, thanks to an
inspired spell of bowling from Vishnuvardhan.
Except for Mandar Phadke, all the Goa batsmen
failed to contribute runs as Goa succumbed for
just 176 in just the 36th over. Left arm spinner
Inder Shekhar Reddy ended up with 3 wickets
giving 50 runs. Hyderabad opened their account
in the Points Table with this 78 run victory.
Hyderabad now face Andhra
in the last of their league matches, while Goa
face Karnataka, both on the 15th of this month.
Hyderabad 255 in 50 Overs
(AT Rayudu 73 PS Niranjan 31, A Naik
2/34) defeated
Goa 176 in 35.4 Overs (M Phadke
66, PIS Reddy 3/50) by 78 runs
