Jan 16th, 2005:
After a defeat at the hands of Gujarat,
Baroda took on Saurashtra today at the Sardar
Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Saurashtra won the toss
and elected to field first. It was a good toss
to lose for Baroda, as Satyajit Parab along with
Rajesh Pawar who was promoted to no.3 today
spanked the bowlers all over the park. They put
on a crucial 112 run partnership for the 2nd
wicket. The middle order didn't contribute much,
thanks to an inspired spell of 7/43 from
Shitanshu Kotak as Baroda managed a total of
258/9 at the end of 50 overs.
Saurashtra in reply were
bundled out for a paltry 174 in just the 42nd
over. Captain Jaydev Shah topscored for
Saurashtra with 40 of 36 balls which included 7
fours. No other Saurashtra batsman got above the
30-run mark as they lost the match by 84 runs.
Baroda with this win earned a bonus point
putting them at the 2nd spot in the points
table.
Baroda take on
Maharashtra tommorow, while Saurashtra take on
Gujarat.
