After a defeat at the hands of Mumbai,
Gujarat took on Baroda at the Sardar Vallabhai
Patel Stadium at Ahmedabad.
Jacob Martin won the toss
and put Gujarat into bat. Niraj Patel continued
from where he had left against Mumbai, as he
along with Akash Christian spanked the Baroda
bowlers all around the park. Niraj went on to
score a fine 111 with the support of Akash
Christian who scored 69, as Gujarat went on to
score 247. Vora was the most successful bowler
for Baroda with figures of 3/51.
Baroda got of to a
promising start with both the openers Connor
Williams and Satyajit Parab contributing 49 and
52 respectively. The introduction of spinners in
the form of Salil Yadav and Kalpesh Patel saw a
major downfall in the Baroda batting as they
collapsed 24 runs short of the Gujarat total for
223. Kalpesh Patel ended with figures of 4/37
while Yadav took 2 wickets giving 45 runs.
Gujarat with this victory earned 4 points and
are now joint leaders along with Mumbai in the
West Zone League.
Gujarat face Saurashtra
in their last league match on the 17th of this
month, while Baroda face Saurashtra on the 16th.
