Ranji One Day 2004-05 : East Zone: Jharkhand Vs Assam

Jan 18th, 2005: Jharkhand took on Assam in the final match of the East Zone League at the Jadavpur University Campus in Kolkata.

Jharkhand were given a good start by opener Manish Vardhan who scored 76 which included 7 fours and a six. Chandra Mohan Jha coming in at no.5 scored a crucial 81 as Jharkhand reached a total of 223 for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Raj Kapoor Yadav took 3 wickets, giving away 42 runs.

Assam in reply were of to a shaky start losing half of their side with 78 runs on the board within the 25th over. Captain and wicket-keeper Syed Zakaria Zuffri top scored with 41 and was well supported by Gokul Sharma who scored 38 of 45. But the Assam lower order were vulnerable to some quality Jharkhand bowling as they were bundled out 24 runs short of the Jharkhand total. Shanbaz Nadeem was impressive for Jharkhand with a 5-wicket haul.

Jharkhand with this 24 run win earned 4 points and finished at the 3rd position in the East Zone League.

Jharkhand 223/6 in 50 Overs (CM Jha 81 M Vardhan 76, RK Yadav 3/42) defeated Assam 199 in 48.2 Overs (SZ Zuffri 41 G Sharma 38, S Nadeem 5/30) by 24 runs
