Ranji One Day 2004-05 : South Zone: Andhra Vs
Tamil Nadu |
Match Report by Ashwat
Ramani
Jan 13th, 2005:
A confident Tamil Nadu who had won all their
matches so far took on a relatively out-of-form
Andhra at the Dr.Rajendra Prasad Stadium at
Margao.
After winning the toss
and electing to bat, Tamil Nadu went all guns
firing at Andhra as opener Sivaramakrishnan
Vidyut along with captain Subramaniam Badrinath
bolstered the Andhra bowling. Vidyut went on to
score a wonderful 123 which included 14 hits to
the fence and one over the fence. The Tamil Nadu
Innings was ended in a fine fashion at a huge
score of 342/6 with pyrotechnics from the bat of
little wicket keeper Dinesh Karthik who scored
80 of just 43 balls. Hemal Watekar picked up 3
wickets but gave 75 costly runs.
Andhra in reply got of to
a decent start with the opening pair of Fayaz
Ahmed and MSK Prasad putting 40 on the board for
the 1st wicket. But ever since the 1st wicket
fell, the others followed a procession back to
the pavilion as none apart from captain MSK
Prasad who scored 56 were able to survive in the
middle. A late order 48 by Hemal Watekar delayed
the inevitable as Andhra managed just 193 in
their allotted 50 overs. Tamil Nadu with this
win, added yet another 5 points to their kit,
while Andhra tasted dust yet again.
Tamil Nadu now face
Kerala in the last of their league matches,
while Andhra face state mates Hyderabad, both on
the 15th of this month.
Tamil Nadu 342/8 in 50 Overs
(S Vidyut 123 D Karthik 80 S Badrinath
65, H Watekar 3/75) defeated
Andhra 193/8 in 50 Overs (MSK
Prasad 56 H Watekar 48, H Patel 2/38) by
149 runs
