Ranji One Day 2004-05 : South Zone: Kerala Vs
Andhra |
Jan 9th, 2005:
Andhra’s skipper M.S.K.Prasad was back into
action after a fracture in his leg and he won
the toss and put Kerala to bat. Kerala’s batsmen
with the exception of opener Vasudevan Jagadeesh
struggled to play long innings. The innings was
single handedly controlled by Jagadeesh’s ton.
Jagadeesh was the last batsman to fall for
Kerala for 104 and that innings helped Kerala to
post a challenging total of 212. Medium pacer
Kalyankrishna took 3 wickets to be the most
succesful bowler for Andhra.
Kerala’s new ball bowlers Tinu Yohannan and
Prasanth Chandran did the early damage to the
Andhra’s batting to put the pressure back on the
chasing team. At 82/5, Andhra were down and out
but then came the 52 runs partnership between
Gnaneswara Rao (58) and Hemant Watekar (40) for
the 6th wicket. But once the partnership was
broke it was almost curtains for Andhra and
their innings came to a halt at 191. Prasanth
Chandran was the most succesful bowler taking 3
wickets for 36.
Kerala 212 (Vasudevan Jagadeesh 104, D
Kalyankrishna 3/29) defeated Andhra 191
(Gnaneswar Rao 58, Hemanth Watekar 40,
Prasanth Chandran 3/36) by 21 runs
