Andhra who along with Hyderabad haven't yet
opened their account after 2 defeats in a row
faced Karnataka today at the Panjim Gymkhana
Grounds.
Andhra
skipper MSK Prasad won the toss and put
Karnataka to bat first. The opening pair of
Barrington Rowland and Robin Uthappa raced off
to a fiery start as they put up 55 runs for the
1st wicket, with 41 runs coming of the bat of
Uthappa. The downfall of Uthappa saw the
Karnataka captain Sujith Somasunder build on a
huge partnership with Barrington Rowland as they put 131 runs
for the 2nd wicket. A quick fire 43 of 38 balls
from Balachandra Akhil took Karnataka to a fine
total of 287/7 in the allotted 50 overs.
The opening pair of MSK
Prasad and Fayaz Ahmed failed to click as both
the openers were dismissed cheaply. Dodda Ganesh
broke through the Andhra batting as he ended up
with figures of 4/24 along with the veteran
Sunil Joshi who took 3 wickets for 24 runs.
Kondisetty Gangadhar top-scored for Andhra with
40 runs to his name, as Andhra were skittled out
for a paltry 154. This huge victory of 133 runs
gave Karnataka 5 points.
Karnataka face Kerala
tomorrow, while Andhra face Tamil Nadu.
