Ranji One Day 2004-05 : South Zone: Andhra Vs Goa

an 10th, 2005:

Goa won the toss and the first innings was full with two brilliant performances – one with the bat and two with the ball. Goa’s skipper Asnodkar opening the batting played a captain’s knock to score an unbeaten 120. Asnodkar’s power packed innings contained 8 fours and as many as 7 sixes. On the other hand, Andhra’s medium pacer Saraswathi Reddy ended up with dream figures of 10-1-16-5. With only batsman in Asnodkar contributing, Goa could just score 217/9 in their allotted 50 overs.

Andhra got off to a splendid start from their two openers Fayaz Ahmed and skipper M.S.K.Prasad. But once the Goa bowlers managed to end the partnership, it was getting difficult for Andhra to have a firm grip on the game. MSK Prasad got out for a well made 75 in 91 balls but that didn’t save Andhra from a 14 run defeat. All the Goa bowlers with the exception of Narvekar were responsible for the damage caused in the Andhra’s chase.

Goa 217/9 (Asnodkar 120*, Saraswathi Reddy 5/16) defeated Andhra 203 (Fayaz Ahmed 42 MSK Prasad 75, Amit Dani 3/44) by 14 runs Full Scorecard
