Mumbai win their 35th Ranji Trophy |

Mumbai won the Ranji Trophy Championship for the
36th time. In this season's Ranji Trophy final
at the M.A.Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, both
the teams had to settle out for a draw, with no
result coming out of the four days. Mumbai were
awarded the Trophy on the basis of their first
innings lead. Tamil Nadu had a bad first innings
where they were bowled out for just 294. Left
arm spinner, Nilesh Kulkarini did the damage
taking 6 wickets. Young wicket keeper Dinesh
Karthik was the only Tamil Nadu batsman who
stood to the challenge, Karthik scored an
impressive unbeaten 109. In reply, Mumbai scored
a mammoth 513 losing just five wickets. The
Mumbai innings was powered by both its openers
who scored centuries and also Amol Muzumdar, who
was unbeaten on 119. In the second innings,
Tamil Nadu fared better scoring 353/4 with
Badrinath leading the way with an unbeaten 110.
Sairaj Bahatule was the proud captain holding
the prestigious trophy.
