So many Questions but no Answers |
By Vishal Bhargava
Why are the Indian pitches the same even after
re-laying them? How are they the same even after
them being re-laid? Why didn’t the Indian pitch
authority learn the scientific way from the New
Zealand Turf Institute? How didn’t they
understand the procedure of making the pitch an
ideal one, unlike the ones that are being played
on? Why was the pitch at Mumbai and Chennai
re-laid? Didn’t those pitches offer good bounce
and pace earlier? When will we learn? Doesn’t
the board know that cricket is our lifeline and
the people would ideally want the team to win a
few Test Series overseas?
Why isn’t the Board making sincere efforts to
produce quality pitches so that India can
perform well abroad? Why is it that India
doesn’t have any quality reserves when it comes
to fast bowlers? Why aren’t players like Badani
and Sodhi getting an opportunity to display
their talents? Shouldn’t they be given an
opportunity so that when Kaif and Yuvraj are out
of form or injured, we don’t have to run and
scamper for ideal replacements? Why don’t we
tour often? How will we learn to perform well,
unless we don’t play more abroad?
Why is it that
cricket is our lifeline? Why can’t we move onto
other sports as well like football, hockey or
tennis? Why don’t we give cricket a break? Why
do we have to listen to the sick and unconcerned
Board officials, who don’t know a thing about
cricket? Why is that the concerned and well
wishers of Indian cricket are not holding the
major posts in the Indian cricket Board?
Why is Kumble performing well only in the
sub-continent? Hasn’t he learnt that for
succeeding overseas he has to try bowling some
new deliveries and which turn more than his
regular ones? How long will we keep doing with
makeshift openers? How long will the selectors
destroy careers of youngsters by forcing them to
open the batting, a position they may not be
accomplished in? Why aren’t talented opening
batsmen guided well? Why was Ratra given such a
long time in international cricket, when it was
evident that he had no prowess when it came to
batting? Why has Parthiv Patel been given
several chances only because he’s too young,
when it’s evident that he still has some work to
do before he gets on to the top level?
Why is that we bear with the Board officials who
aren’t interested in the success of Indian
cricket, but only filling up their coffers? Why
is it that cricket matches in India are being
played in Oct-Nov-Dec, when it is a well-known
fact that the heat and humidity is at it’s worst
during this period?
Questions, Questions and more Questions. No
answers though. The Armchair expert is unhappy,
still.
