Shaharyar Khan
resigns as PCB Chairman |
October 7, 2006
Shaharyar
Khan has resigned as Chairman of the Pakistan
Cricket Board after he had come under severe
pressure following the Oval fiasco and then
yesterday's captaincy issue where
Younis Khan had
refused to lead the side.
The 72-year-old Shaharyar Khan has stated that
both these episodes had grieved him considerably
as these events reflected adversely on the
Board. Mr. Khan had replaced Gen Tauqir Zia as
the PCB Chairman in December 2003 and the former
was having a three year contract that was due to
end in December.
Dr. Nasim Ashraf, a member of the ad hoc
committee has been appointed by President
General Pervez Musharraf as the ninth President
of the PCB.
