Speedster Asif
arrested for carrying drugs! |
Pakistan Speedster Mohammad Asif has again
been embroiled in a controversy yet again. The
latest is that Asif has been arrested in the
Dubai Airport for possessing drugs while
returning back to Pakistan after his IPL stint
with the Delhi Daredevils.
News is that Mohammad Asif has been detained
at the Dubai International Airport and the 5
grams substance which he was allegedly carrying
was sent for lab testing. The Pakistan Cricket
Board has sent one of its senior board officials
to Dubai to help Asif get over the turbulent
times.
This was not the first time that Asif's name
has been associated with drugs. During the 2006
Champions Trophy in India, Mohammad Asif along
with Shoaib Akhtar had tested positive for
Nandrolone in an internal dope conducted prior
to the tournament. Asif and Shoaib were handed
over bans by the PCB which was later lifted by
the PCB.
Mohammad Asif is expected to be detained in
Dubai for atleast three to four days and
therefore the PCB has dropped his name from the
squad that is scheduled to leave for Bangladesh
on friday. Asif has been replaced with Sohail
Khan, who has played 3 ODIs.
