Pakistan's Abdul
Razzaq to miss the World Cup! |
February 27, 2007
Just
a couple of days before their departure to the
Caribbean, Pakistan have been struck with the
accidental injury to their key all rounder,
Abdul Razzaq. The 27-year-old Razzaq will be
missing the World Cup and has been replaced by
another all rounder of lesser abilities, Azhar
Mahmood. This news comes as a devastating one as
Pakistan are still anxiously waiting on the
availability of Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif.
According to reports, Abdul
Razzaq was hit by a ball on his left knee during
the team practice on Monday. Doctors have
advised him to take atleast three weeks of rest
and it is suspected that there could be a
fracture. This hasn't been a lucky season at all
for Razzaq, he was also ruled out of the Test
Series against South Africa due to an ankle
injury. Another fast bowler, Umar Gul, who was
sidelined with injury has been declared as fit
and would be flying along with the team on March
1st.
