Pakistan's former Test Cricketer
Wasim Raja passed
away following a heart attack while playing
cricket in London. Wasim Raja also served as an
ICC Match Referee and he was just a 54-year-old.
He was also coach of the Pakistan team in 1997.
Wasim Raja is the elder brother of Rameez Raja
who is also a former Pakistan Test Cricketer and
a former CEO of the PCB. Rameez is currently a
popular TV Commentator. His brother Wasim was a
left handed middle order batsman who could bowl more
than useful legspin. He had featured in 57 Tests
and 54 ODIs in an international career that
lasted for about 12 years. Wasim had made his
Test Debut in 1973 against New Zealand and had
scored 2821 runs at a modest average of 36.16
with four hundreds and 18 fifties. He had scored
782 runs in ODIs with a below par average of
22.34 with two fifties. Wasim Raja had served
the ICC as a Match Referee in 15 Tests and 34
ODIs between 2002 and 2004.
