At 27, Razzaq
retires from International Cricket! |
Hurt
at not getting picked for the Twenty20 World
Championship Squad, Abdul Razzaq has announced
his retirement from International Cricket. Like
Afridi in the past, Razzaq might also be
thinking of a temporary retirement plan and
return back to international cricket after a
gap. The all-rounder said that his decision to
retire was more of a protest because he was
mentally upset at the treatment lashed out by
the Pakistani Selectors.
What was more tragic from Abdul Razzaq’s point
of view is that he had missed the 2007 World Cup
as well which was because of an accidental knee
injury during training. Even though Razzaq has
announced his retirement at the international
level, he had kept himself totally busy by
signing a contract with the Indian Cricket
League and also with English County
Worcestershire.
Razzaq’s chances of playing again for Pakistan
might be dim if the PCB decides to take any
action for joining the ICL. The all-rounder
might have taken a hasty decision to retire at a
young age of just 27! The all-rounder has played
46 Tests and 231 ODIs ever since making his
international debut as a 17-year-old.
