Mohammad Yousuf
to miss the first test |
January 08, 2007
Pakistan's
best batsman of late, Mohammad Yousuf will be
missing the opening test match at Centurion as
he has decided to stay back to attend his
pregnant wife. The right handed middle order
batsman has requested the PCB that he might join
the Pakistan squad on 14th or 21st depending on
the dates of his wife's surgery.
Yousuf has been in prolific form for his side in
last year having broken Sir Viv Richards's
records of scoring the most test runs in a
calendar year. His absence will weaken the
Pakistani batting to a significant extent. It is
learnt that Mohammad Yousuf's wife is having
complications in her pregnancy. Along with
Mohammad Yousuf, Shoaib Malik will also be
missing the opening test match due to an ankle
injury.
