Gough recalled
for Pakistan One Day Series |
Darren
Gough has earned an English recall for the
upcoming One Day Series against Pakistan. The
35-year-old fast bowler was named in the
probables for the Champions Trophy as well and
it is clear that England are looking up for his
experience in the bowling. Gough has taken 235
wickets in the 157 ODIs he has played ever since
making his England Debut almost 12 years back.
His last One Day International was in 2005
against Australia.
Also included in the side are Chris Read, Ed
Joyce, Rikki Clarke, Jon Lewis and the uncapped
Stuart Broad and Michael Yardy. Ed Joyce is from
Ireland who wisely decided to play for England
and had rather made his One Day International
Debut against Ireland! The 27-year-old left
handed bat was also selected for the Sri Lanka
Series but was unfortunately injured to miss out
in playing any other ODIs for England. Rikki
Clarke, the 24-year-old all rounder returns to
the side after a gap of two years and he had
figured in 17 ODIs with some ordinary
performances with both bat and the ball. Stuart
Broad is the son of the ICC Match Referee, Chris
Broad and he bowls medium pace. The other
uncapped player is Michael Yardy of Sussex who
is a left handed batsman and also a useful left
arm spinner. Out of the squad are Vikram Solanki,
Geraint Jones, Tim Bresnan, Kabir Ali, Alex
Loudon and Liam Plunkett. The 1st ODI of the
5-match series is scheduled on 30th at Cardiff.
