Flintoff may not be ready for Old
Trafford Test |
July 22, 2006
Andrew
Flintoff’s much awaited return to the
English Side might be delayed with the all
rounder still feeling the pain in his ankle.
Freddie was feeling discomforting pain in his
ankle while playing for Lancashire against Kent
at Canterbury and it looks difficult for him to
get fit for the 2nd Test against Pakistan which
starts on the 27th at Old Trafford. According to
the ECB, Flintoff has made good progress with
his rehabilitation program and that this
four-day game against Kent was the final test
for Freddie to asses the strength of his left
ankle. Flintoff had missed out the One day
Series against Sri Lanka and the 1st Test match
at Lord’s against Pakistan due to this injury.
He started to make his comeback from the injury
by playing in the Twenty20 games but has soon
realized the real strength in his ankle in this
four-day game against Kent. Flintoff had bowled
19 overs in the first innings taking two wickets
and in the second innings could bowl just 4
overs! This is a big blow for England as their
bowling looks depleted with just Harmison and
Hoggard looking penetrative.
