Liam Plunkett ruled out with a
side strain |
July 26, 2006
England’s all rounder in the making,
Liam Plunkett
has been ruled out for the next two Test Matches
due to a side strain. Plunkett had sustained
this injury while playing for Durham against
West Indies A at Chester-le-Street. He was
included in the 2nd Test Match Squad which was
announced on Sunday with the Selectors also
including Jamie Dalrymple as the additional
member. Plunkett had played in the drawn Test
match at Lord’s where he had struggled in most
part of the game spraying the ball on both sides
of the wicket. Plunkett found it hard to cope up
with the slope of the Lord’s wicket but he did
get a couple of crucial breakthroughs for his
side including that of Inzamam-ul-Haq in the
first innings. With Plunkett being ruled out,
England might replace him with Sajid Mahmood,
the Lancashire fast bowler. The 2nd Test match
between England and Pakistan gets underway
tomorrow at Old Trafford, Manchester.
