Craig McMillan
calls it a day |
New
Zealand's middle order batsman Craig McMillan
has announced his retirement from International
and Domestic Cricket today at Christchurch.
McMillan is known to be an attractive middle
order batsman possessing some incredible
improvisation skills towards the death of a One
Day innings.
The 31-year-old McMillan
has cited health and personal reasons for his
decision. Having made his International Debut in
1997, Craig McMillan has gone onto play 55 Tests
and 197 ODIs. He has been in and out of the New
Zealand team after the 2003 World Cup but could
force a surprise comeback just in time for the
2007 edition. He was New Zealand's most valuable
player in the inaugural Twenty20 World
Championship.
McMillan has been
fighting diabetes throughout his career but that
hasn't stopped him from getting 3116 runs in
Tests and 4707 runs in ODIs. Besides his
batting, McMillan did bowl his fancy medium
pacers along with a skiddy bouncer that has got
him a few wickets in both forms of the game.
There is speculation that Craig McMillan might
sign up with the rebel Indian Cricket League
following his retirement from International
Cricket.
