Australia opened its tour of New Zealand with an easy win in the first T20I at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington. After bowling out the hosts for just 118, Australia got the runs with 4 overs to spare and with 6 wickets in hand. The victory was set up by Mitchell Johnson who took three wickets while Tait and Nannes picked up two each. David Hussey was the top scorer of the day with 46 from 36 balls (with 5 fours).
