Windies bring in
Samuels for Mohammed for the 3rd Test
at St.Kitts |
June 19, 2006
West Indies have dropped Dave Mohammed for the
3rd Test Match at St.Kitts and have included
Marlon Samuels in his place. Brian Lara’s
request for a fast bowler in the squad has been
unheard by the selectors and instead they have
packed the squad with the extra batsman in
Samuels. The 25-year-old Marlon Samuels was in
the squad for the 1st Test but wasn’t picked. He
did have a good time in the One Day Series
against India not with the bat but with the
ball. This is the only change that the Selectors
had in the 13-man squad for the 3rd Test. Marlon
Samuels might replace Daren Ganga in the playing
eleven as the opening batsmen had failed in
delivering the goods so far. But Samuels will
have to compete with Runako Morton who could
force his way into the side after sitting out on
the bench for the first two Tests.
Coming to Dave Mohammed, he didn’t play in the
2nd Test Match at St.Lucia as the Team
Management wanted to go for an all pace attack.
Mohammed did bowl well in the Port of Spain ODI
against India taking three wickets; he also had
a decent outing in the 1st Test against the same
opponents at Antigua before Dhoni took him to
the cleaners in the 2nd innings. The 3rd Test
Match at St.Kitts starts on the 22nd and it
would be the first time a Test Match is going to
be played at the Warner’s Park.
