Selectors bring
back Sourav! VVS elevated as VC |
November 30, 2006
Former
India Skipper Sourav Ganguly has been handed a
recall to the Indian Test Squad. The Bengal
Southpaw has been included in the 16-man that
will play a 3-Tests Series against South Africa
which starts on the 15th of December. Another
important decision that was taken by the
Selectors was to elevate VVS Laxman as the
Vice-Captain of the side in place of Virender
Sehwag.
Also
in the side are opening batsman, Gautam Gambhir
and raw fast bowler Vikram Singh. Irfan Pathan
held onto his place despite reports floating
around that he was likely to be dropped. India
has retained Dinesh Karthik as the second wicket
keeper. In the bowling, Zaheer Khan has been
rewarded with a berth due to his magnificent
opening spells in the ongoing One Day Series.
