for SA tour |
November 10, 2006
Medium
Pacer Ajit Agarkar has been declared fit for the
One Day Series against South Africa. The Mumbai
pacer has passed a fitness test in Mumbai under
the supervision of the Indian Team Physio John
Gloster. Agarkar will now travel with the other
15 members who are departing on the 13th.
The 28-year-old Agarkar had injured his left
hand during the Champions Trophy Match against
West Indies. He had to miss India's next game
which was against the Aussies due to a hair line
fracture in his left thumb which saw Sreesanth
taking his place. As part of the fitness test,
Agarkar was given catches and some batting in
the nets. He was named in the 16-man squad with
Punjab's Vikram Singh named as his stand-by in
case he failed to clear the fitness test. Yuvraj
Singh who was originally named in the squad
subject to fitness was ruled out few days back
due to a knee injury and his replacement is
Dinesh Karthik, the wicket keeper.
