VVS to play for
Lancashire |
India's
Test Star VVS Laxman will soon get his first
taste of County Cricket as Lancashire are
getting ready to sign him for this season.
Laxman will be joining Lancashire after the
current Test Series against England subject to
the BCCI's approval. The artistic batsman from
Hyderabad has never played any county cricket
despite having a tremendous record in his
career.
Laxman has got this
opportunity because Lancashire's current
overseas player, Australian Brad Hodge is
expected to do national duty for the upcoming
Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa. Laxman till
date has played 80 Tests scoring 10 hundreds and
27 fifties which also includes an amazing 281
against a formidable Australian side. VVS also
has six 100s and 10 fifties in his 86-match ODI
Career.
The 32-year-old Laxman
has stated that playing county cricket is
something he wanted to do for a long time and
that he was hoping to have a successful season
ahead. The other Indian players busy with county
cricket is
Harbhajan Singh who is representing Surrey
and left arm Spinner
Murali Kartik whose last twenty20 game for
Middlesex saw him take an incredible 5 for 13 in
4 overs against Essex at Lord's.
