Injured Zaheer to
fly back home; VRV to join the team |
Zaheer
Khan, who has missed the ongoing second test
match at Sydney has also been ruled out of the
entire series because of his heel injury. While
Ishant Sharma has taken his place in the playing
side, it is going to be Punjab's
Vikram Singh,
better known as VRV Singh to be Zaheer's
replacement for the tour.
The team management has said that Zaheer will
be flown back to India immediately and that
Vikram Singh is expected to join the team on the
4th. VRV Singh has been in decent rhythm during
the Ranji Trophy Championship. The 23-year-old
VRV who is reckoned to be one of the fastest
bowlers in India has also taken a hat-trick this
season against Orissa.
Zaheer Khan's services will be hugely missed
by the Indians as he had done well in the first
Test Match at Melbourne and also the last few
Test Series at home and abroad. He had sustained
this heel injury during the home series against
Pakistan. He didn't play the final Test at
Bangalore because of the same injury. India are
already without their new strike bowler
Sreesanth, who is recovering from a shoulder
injury through Ayurvedic treatment.
