The venue for the second Test between India and Sri Lanka is the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Green Park has so far hosted 20 Test matches ever since it hosted its first match between India and England in 1952 and has been traditionally batting friendly.

The venue had earned plenty of flak because of the last Test it hosted between India and South Africa which finished in just three days. It was a must-win game for India led by MS Dhoni in the 3-Test Series then and the curator provided a dust bowl to suit the homeside.

India and Sri Lanka have played against each other only once which was in a drawn match in 1986.
